I mixed an indigo jean color to hand-dye this fabric. I used a knit cotton blend. Generally, tightly knitted natural fabrics work the best for me. For the belt loops, I created a 2 mm wide tube in the same method as the waistband, did a tight backstitch along both edges, measured, glued, and flattened the seam allowances, folded it over, and finally glued and ironed it in the back. The waistband is secured with glue to the seam allowance and ladder stitched to the pants along the outside edge of the lining.
